How to play
DeFi Kingdoms is a browser-based game, so to play this game you need to set up following steps
- Install Metamask extension to your browser.
- Add Avalanche + DFK chain.
- Connect your wallet to DFK chain and enter the game
- To get tokens to the DFK chain, you need to make sure that you have AVAX in your wallet on Avalanche(exchanges to buy AVAX ).
- To bridge tokens, hit the menu in the top right corner, select bridge and then select: from Avalanche(chain) AVAX(token) to DFK Chain wAVAX.
- After you have bridged tokens from Avalanche to DFK Chain you get airdropped 0,1 JEWEL, this will cover the gas fees for trading your wAVAX into JEWEL/CRYSTAL.
- You can now proceed to the Marketplace and find the Trader. Here you can swap to the desired amount of JEWEL and CRYSTAL.
JEWEL is used to pay for transactions/gas fees and CRYSTAL is used to purchase and mint Hero NFTs, swapped on the in-game DEX, staked for fee distribution, pooled for liquidity, and applied to applicable governance votes.
Much of the gameplay in DeFi Kingdoms is centered around Heroes, the utility-based NFTs that can gather resources with their «Professions». To buy Heroes you need to visit the Tavern and then select the Agent.
However, if you don't have enough CRYSTAL yet to purchase a Hero, that's ok, too! You can invest what you do have through the Jeweler(DEX fee distribution) or in the Gardens (liquidity pooling) to begin earning more CRYSTAL.
Heroes
As mentioned, the Heroes in DeFi Kingdoms are utility-based NFTs with a variety of use cases. Heroes can be paired to «Summon» more Heroes, whose classes, stats, and rarity are partially determined by the two Heroes used to infuse the Summoning Crystal. Heroes can engage in «Professions Quests» to earn JEWEL, CRYSTAL and in-game resources, as well as increases to the relevant profession skill and experience toward the next Hero level. Once Heroes reach an experience threshold, they can level up at the Meditation Circle. Eventually, Heroes will be able to participate in further Quests to gain loot and experience, including PVE quests in which they battle enemies
The Tavern hosts the NFT Agent, who can assist with buying and selling Heroes, as well as renting them out for use in the Summoning Portal. Heroes are purchased with CRYSTAL token.
Summoning
To summon, two heroes (one of them can be hired from a 3rd party) must visit the Arch Druid and infuse a Summoning Crystal with their combined essence. Infused Crystals are then used at the Portal to seek Heroes from far away lands that are in tune with the heroes that infused the crystal.
For every 5 levels a summoning Hero has reached, they may increase the Tear cost by 10 to provide bonuses to the Summoned Hero. Those bonuses are applied to the Summoned Hero’s stats, Primary Stat Growth, and Secondary Stat Growth. The bonuses are based on the summoning Hero’s top three stats, and each summoning Hero may provide their own bonuses if they use extra tears.
Leveling
Heroes can increase their stats by leveling up. To level up, a Hero must first have accumulated enough experience from their adventures. Once they have done that, they visit the Meditation Circle, and spend a certain number of runes(Shvās runes below level 10, Moksha runes above level 10) and CRYSTAL based on their level. They also have the option to use an attunement crystal while leveling up, which will increase the success rate for certain stat increases.
The benefit of leveling up is an increase to a Hero’s stats. Excluding HP, MP, and Stamina, the game will roll twice for each stat to see if they increase. The first roll will be based on the Hero’s Primary Stat Growth percentage, which is primarily based on the Hero’s class. The second roll is based on the Hero’s Secondary Stat Growth percentage, which is primarily based on the Hero’s subclass. For each successful roll, the stat receives +1 to its value. Primary Stat Growth and Secondary Stat Growth are important factors that the player can modify through the use of enhancement stones and summoner bonuses from spending additional Gaia’s Tears during the summoning process (more on this later).
In addition to these two rolls per stat, the player will be given a choice of one stat to grant an extra +1 bonus. But that is not all, players also have a chance to seek Gaia’s blessing for two other stats. Gaia’s blessing has a 50% chance of increasing each of the selected stats.
Stamina has a fixed growth rate for all Heroes. It increases by 1 every even level. HP and MP increases are calculated after other stat bonuses are applied. Each class has its own chances for small, regular, or large increases in HP and MP. For example, a Wizard has higher chances for large MP increases, but lower chances for large HP increases.
Quests
Aside from Summoning, the primary focus of Heroes is to go on quests and collect useful items and experience. Quests can be divided into two categories: Profession Quests and Training Quests.
Profession Quests
Profession quests are non-combat oriented quests to learn and excel at different useful skills to the kingdom. Four different professions will be available to Heroes: Gardening, Mining(both Gold Mining and CRYSTAL mining), Fishing, and Foraging. Each profession has a profession skill associated with it which has a chance to increase each time a Hero does an associated profession quest. As those skills increase, so too will the Hero’s ability to earn rewards from that profession. In addition, each of these professions has a gene associated with it. Heroes receive additional benefits when doing profession quests that match their profession gene, including an increased chance for rewards and a reduction in the quest's Stamina cost
Training quests
Training quests are a different kind of activity that Heroes can perform. Like the profession quests, training quests do not require equipment. However, unlike the profession quests, they do have a chance of failure. There are eight training quests available to heroes, each corresponding to one of the eight main stats of a Hero.

- Stick And Ball - Dexterity
- Tafl Match - Intelligence
- Tug Of War - Strength
Training quests are instantaneous quests, meaning that they require an upfront cost of stamina and result in receiving some reward after a short period of time. Each Trainer specializes in a specific discipline (Stat). The Hero competes against the Trainer in their specific discipline. Once the Hero grows too strong in that specific stat they can surpass their Trainer and will be encouraged to seek a stronger trainer elsewhere (tier 2 training quest). When a training attempt is successful, the Hero receives a flat amount of Gold and a roll for a Shvās rune, an lesser attunement crystal, and a Page of the Eternal Story. Unsuccessful attempts do not receive any of these rolls.
Each Training Quest attempt consumes 5 stamina. You can perform up to 5 attempts per transaction and up to 6 Heroes per transaction. Each Hero must be able to perform the same number of attempts when grouped.
Pets
Heroes can sometimes find eggs on their quests. Pets are an NFT that can be hatched from pet eggs. These pets can accompany Heroes on their adventures. To hatch a pet, players must bring their eggs to the Hatchery. The costs for hatching an egg are both time, some in-game resources, and CRYSTAL. Three different price options will be offered to players. The options provide a decreased incubation time, and better chances at getting shiny and higher rarity pets. Some costs are egg-type dependent.
Pets can be bought and sold via the Hatchery.
